Other Traditional Furniture Styles:
Louis-Philippe Louis Philippe was the last king to rule France from 1830 to 1848. The Louis Philippe's style was much simpler than all the previous French styles. It features simple, rounded lines, but little ornamentation. Dark woods particularly walnut and mahogany are used.
Neo Classic The style is both elegant and somewhat more simplistic than Queen Anne or Chippendale. It borrows motifs from ancient Greece and Rome and was popular throughout the late 18th and 19th centuries. Colonial Colonial furniture has a graceful and refined look. The style is more conservative and less ornate than English and European furniture of the same style period. Chairs of this style tend to feature spindled legs and backs rather than more ornate designs.
Victorian / French The Victorian furniture style used natural materials frequently used including terra-cotta, marble, Wire and wrought iron. These pieces tend to be a little more rough and rustic than the rest of the 18th century furniture categories. It is named for Queen Victoria of England and was the first style of mass production.
